Checking in with your breath...2-min practice
Before your day really gets going check-in with yourself. How’s your energy? How’s your breath? Your breath is the perfect barometer for your emotional state. Is your breath fast, or slow? Cooling or Heating? Deep or shallow? At ease or laborious? Mouth or nose? Which nostril is dominant? This breath observation can tell you so much. That insight can empower you to alter your energy so you can remain or obtain balance for best health, emotions and peace of mind in all moments.
How to know which nostril is dominant? What does this tell us? How to alter? How to practice, master? Why does it matter? Can we practice so that we can change our energy at will?
Which nostril is dominant, and how can you tell? 👃🏼 Takes just 2-minutes to check-in with your energy...
1. Sit comfortably, sit up tall, relax your face and jaw
2. Close the right nostril with the right thumb. Inhale and exhale for one-minute through the left nostril only
3. Close the left nostril with the left thumb. Inhale and exhale for one-minute through the right nostril only
How do you feel? Which side was easier to breath through....That side is dominant 🌔🌘
Right dominant >> Pingala nadi >> Solar energy is focused, energetic, powerful and active. If this is excessive and you’re feeling overheated or anxious close the right nostril with the right thumb and inhale/exhale through the left nostril 26x. You will invite cooling, calming energy 🌙 (If you NEED some of this #agni #yang #fire 🔥 energy then close the left nostril with the left thumb and inhale/exhale 26x through the right nostril)
Left dominant >> Ida nadi >> Lunar energy is steady, cooling, clarifying. If this is overactive and you’re feeling lazy or tired, depressed or scattered close the left nostril with the left thumb and inhale/exhale through the right nostril 26x. You will invite focused, powerful energy 🔥 (If you NEED some of this #yin #lunar 🌙 energy then close the right nostril with the right thumb and inhale/exhale 26x through the left nostril)
Neither energy is better. Different situations call for different energies. If we are aware of the dominant energy then we can adjust to deal with what’s in front of us. Sometimes we get overwhelmed and before we know it are engulfed in the external energy of the situation. If we approach life from an energetic, pranic perspective we can be more present and clear.
